What we collect, where it is held, and how long we keep it.

This policy covers personal data collected through this website and through correspondence with us.

It does not cover work we carry out for client schools. Where we are engaged by a school, the handling of that school’s data is governed by the written agreement between us and by the school’s own arrangements. We do not host school data.

Information you give us. The enquiry form on this website asks for your name, your school or organisation, your role, your email address, and a description of what you are working on. If you book a consultation through our Google Calendar booking page, we receive the details you provide when booking and the appointment information.

Correspondence. If you write to us, or we exchange emails after an enquiry, we hold that correspondence.

Website analytics. With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how visitors arrive. This is aggregate information about site usage. We also use Google Search Console, which reports on search performance and does not track individual visitors or set cookies on this site.

We do not collect payment information through this website, and we do not ask for information about students.

We use the information you provide to reply to your enquiry, to arrange and hold a conversation, and to follow up on what we discuss. If an engagement follows, we use it to correspond with you about that work.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share your details with other organisations for their own marketing.

This website is hosted on servers in Singapore, operated by our web developer, Peak Online Limited.

Form submissions are sent to us by email. They are not stored in this website’s database.

Our email runs on Google Workspace. Google operates a global infrastructure, and correspondence with us may therefore be stored on servers outside Hong Kong. We tell you this rather than leave it unsaid: it is the same question we ask on behalf of the schools we work with.

Consultation bookings are managed through Google Calendar in our Google Workspace account.

Personal data you send us is seen by Mike Williams. Beyond that, two service providers are technically able to access it in the course of providing their services:

• Peak Online Limited, our web developer, who host and maintain this website;
• Google, who provide our email, appointment booking and analytics.

Both are engaged to provide services to us and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as needed to respond, follow up and maintain relevant business records. We review it periodically and delete personal information when it is no longer needed, subject to any legal or contractual retention requirements.

If you would like your details removed sooner, write to mike@edsolasia.com and we will do it.

Some cookies are necessary for the website to work — they keep the site secure and remember your cookie choice. These are set automatically.

Analytics cookies are set only if you consent. Google Analytics does not run on this site until you agree to it through the cookie notice, and you can decline without losing access to anything on the site. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie notice, or clear cookies through your browser settings.

Under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486), you have the right to ask whether we hold personal data about you, to request a copy of it, and to ask us to correct it if it is wrong.

Write to mike@edsolasia.com. We will respond within the period the Ordinance allows. There is no charge for a straightforward request.

Where you ask us to send you a briefing or publication, we use your email address for that purpose. Every message of that kind includes a way to stop receiving them, and asking us to stop does not affect anything else we are discussing with you.

If this policy changes, the updated version appears on this page with a new date. Where a change is significant and affects people who have already contacted us, we will say so directly.
